Scott William Schiavone
This lecture explores how museum collections reveal powerful stories of fashion, craftsmanship and community when viewed through the curator’s eye. Drawing on Scott’s work as Decorative Art Curator work at The Harris, Preston, he examines how garments and decorative art objects move beyond aesthetics to reflect lived experience, regional identity and social change. From fashion to glass and ceramics, the talk considers how curators research, interpret and display objects to reconnect them with the people who made and wore them. Through case studies, it reveals how museums can illuminate hidden histories and foster meaningful connections between collections and contemporary audiences.
